Warm Fraternal Greetings Brother Sir Knights & Ladies:

I hope that you are enjoying this beautiful Michigan summer that God has blessed us with.  Mother Earth is so full of life at this time of year. I don’t understand how anyone could see God’s beautiful creation and be an atheist.

Lady Maxine and I are completing our second year as your Master and 1st lady.  It truly has been an honor and a privilege.  The time has flown by and yet together we as a district have accomplished so much.  We are very proud of all of you and look forward to another two years of service.

Of course we will not know for sure if we are reappointed by Supreme until late August.  None the less we simply MUST move forward as we are in a new Fraternal year and there is much to be accomplished.

We are in full planning mode for our 60th exemplification which will be held in Westphalia on October 23rd.  We are honoring a truly dedicated Sir Knight as our Class Honoree. SK George L. Mallison has served our Order well over the years and he has really been a true leader for Michigan District II and the Father Louis Hennepin Province over the past four years.  I am hoping that every Assembly will honor George with at least 2-3 candidates.  Our HOST assembly #1509, Father Godez has promised us a minimum of 75 candidates.  Actually they could make that happen with the right planning and follow-through.

Please plan on joining us for our 2nd Annual District II Social on November 13th at St Gerard parish in Lansing.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to socialize and get to know each other better.

Our annual Provincial meeting will once again be held in Sterling Heights at the Sterling Inn on October 1st-3rd.  Ladies and gentlemen, we have the finest Provincial meeting in the Order.  For it to continue, we must all support it.  Please spread the word.

Lady Maxine asked me if I was going to change our Mission Statement if we are reappointed. You may recall our Mission Statement, “LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.”  I simply cannot think of any more worthy mission for Sir Knights and Ladies of the Fourth Degree.  As Catholic Christians and Knights of Columbus we MUST stand for life in all it stages from Conception to the final breath of natural death.  Our Liberty and Freedoms are what make us Americans and sets us apart from the rest of the world.  We must defend and protect them.  The Pursuit of Happiness is every human beings goal in life.  It has been proven that true happiness is only obtained through service to others and to God.  YES WE WILL KEEP OUR MISSION STATEMENT.

In the new Fraternal year I am asking EVERY 4th Degree officer to assess his contribution to his Assembly and to define a specific improvement that he can implement during his term.  Yes
indeed we can all do a little better and this includes our Navigators and your Master as well.  Let us all pledge to make our organization a little better than when we found it.

God Bless You All              Dennis Henderson, Master
